BOB BERRY
Bob was a top scorer in the Montréal jr A league and the
Montréal Canadians sent him to play for the Peterborough petes of the OHL. He
wasn't happy there and returned to school at sir George. He played
for the Georgians for 3 seasons from 64 to 67.During that time the sir
George teams were a mighty force in the OSLAA. He was very tough in front of the net and scored a lot of goals off his
body and skates.
On one occasion a big defenseman from Carleton charged him from behind and ran right into his elbow...to add insult to injury
the defenseman was assessed a penalty for charging when he woke up. One of my most memorable moments was against
Loyola in a league playoffs at the forum. Loyola star Rick Dawson
scored late in the 3rd period to force a sudden death playoff. I
don't think bob left the ice until he finally scored, around the
10 min mark. Bob also was a great football and baseball player.
He was offered scholarships in both sports. I played football with
bob in the Montréal senior league for one season. he later played with the
Montréal rifles. He went on to play with the Los Angeles kings and then into coaching .I had the chance to work
with bob during training camp when he coached the Montréal Canadians.
Presently he is scouting for the Ottawa senators.
